Thomas George Macarthy Trust
Application details
Each year charitable organisations are invited to apply for assistance on the application forms available on this website. Only charitable or educational organisations operating within the Trusts Region are eligible to make an application. The Thomas George Macarthy Trust makes grants to charitable organisation within the Trust Region who:
- Help children and young people develop and realise their potential
- Look after and provide dignity for older people
- Improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged and marginalised
- Provide essential medical and emergency services
This may be through grant making that complements other funding sources or targets when alternative sources of funding are not available.
The Trust will not entertain applications from individuals (directly or indirectly), sports organisations or service clubs.
Applications from controlling bodies are preferred. Applicants are expected to have made endeavours to raise funds independently, with any Government funding taken into consideration. Applications for religious purposes will be considered only when the organisation is providing a full general secular education or a social service.
All registered schools, kindergartens, playcentres, kohanga reo, Plunkets and Pacific Island Language groups in the Trust Region receive grants on a biennial or annual basis and do not need to submit an application.
It is important that all details on the application form are concise and easy to read. Application forms that are not completed in full, e.g. ‘please refer to attached information’ will not be accepted.
Decisions relating to grant applications are made on the information provided in the application form and other general enquiries.
All grant applications are considered by an Independent Board of Governors whose decisions are binding and are advised to all applications in November 2010
The closing date for applications is 30 June each year. Late applications will not be accepted.
